Based on a true story.

Num Num Foods is built on the

vision

that every kid should consume natural, healthy, and nutritious food during the growing phase of his/her life.

However, this was never the intent.

Our story begins with one mum, one son, and the age old saying of necessity being the mother of invention. The mum being me, Disha, the son being my little one, and the necessity being a solution to his low immunity through the first few years of his life.

Our Long-term

mission

is to enhance the health of little babies and toddlers by providing preservative free, nutritious foods based on traditional organic grains and cereals and superfoods.

Although my name literally translates to direction, ironically the first few years of my life as a mommy had been completely directionless. After a few months of his birth, frequent illnesses brought us to realize that my son has an extremely low immunity.

Not knowing if I was doing something wrong that was causing it at the time, consulting a paediatrician every few days was my only option. These interactions opened my eyes to the importance of complete nutrition solutions for our babies through the early stages of their development.

The tug of war between taste and health however, has led to a severe lack of options in the market and you either end up paying a bomb for something you like, or then have to make everything from scratch, which, let's face it, has become a challenge for many of us women irrespective of whether you're working or binding your family together as a full-time mom (which, take it from me, is way more difficult than you make it look like!!!)

That is when my sister and I dived deep into the subject, going back to recipes we'd been fed by our grandmothers, to find that almost all the ingredients they used were gluten-free, wholesome, organic pulses and cereals that perfectly balanced out the nutritious needs we knew by now, my son needed as well.

We started with changing his food habits to these for a while and voila! Just like magic, my son was suddenly able to fight many of the things ailing him including constipation, colic, loss of appetite, and low immunity all at once.

Seeing the 360 degree change in his health and energy levels, many friends began taking down and exploring these recipes themselves, asking for more and more, and unknowingly, laying the foundation stone for Num Num Foods in some way.

Moving forward, the plan is to continue exploring these ingredients and recipes to create products that help mums like me find food solutions that, while being as safe, trustworthy, and clean as they can come, are also convenient, simple, and fun!

About…me!

Since my team has mandated this section, here's a little something about me.
(I'll keep this short, I promise)
I am Disha Medshinge, the Proprietor of Num Num Foods

By educational qualification, I am a B.Tech graduate from the Government College of Engineering, Pune, and an MBA graduate from the Welingkar Institute of Management.

I have worked previously with TCS for software development and BASF as Controller of the Procurement Division. Along with this, I've also had hands-on experience of handling production in my family business of manufacturing sintered components for automobiles and appliances.

Num Num foods, as mentioned in our story above, was not a planned decision in the timeline of things for me, but has been the absolute best thing that could have ever happened to me. As a person, this enterprise caters to all the things I love balled up in one.

Inspired by my own son, the idea of providing healthy baby food for babies starting off from the weaning stage to a time they are self-sustaining, is something that drives me with excitement every single morning, as I plan to continue adding more and more recipes, products, and smiles, for moms across the world, one baby at a time.
